Performance Anxiety When It Plummets

man with anxiety Performance Anxiety - When Performance Plummets

As a man If you’ve ever experienced performance anxiety you’re not alone. Millions of men all over the world have had at least one incident of failing to “rise” to the occasion.

Why Do some men suffer from performance anxiety?

However, when a lack of arousal or lack of erection becomes a recurring incident, there’s one of two possibilities at work. It could be mental, in which case meditation, relaxation exercises, psychological therapy, or, in severe cases, hypnosis may alleviate the problem. Or, there could be a physiological problem brewing that your body is trying to tell you about.

Is performance anxiety or erectile dysfunction?

Generally, if 1 out of every 4 times a man wishes to have an erection he finds it impossible to do so, it is most likely not performance anxiety. If accompanied by other symptoms such as painful urination or lack of urination, you may be experiencing side effects from a urinary tract infection, a sexually transmitted disease, or an enlarged prostate.

If you’re taking medications for hypertension (high blood pressure), heart problems, depression, general anxiety, hair loss, or insomnia, these drugs may be interfering with your ability to achieve and sustain an erection. If you wish to discontinue their use or seek alternatives, please make sure to consult with your physician first. Do NOT cease taking prescribed medications without the consent of your doctor. performance anxiety

Excessive Substance Abuse?

Performance anxiety, Do you smoke, use illicit drugs or drink excessively? These may be the culprits behind your bedroom “stage fright.” Pain killers (whether prescribed or abused) may also be to blame since they can dampen nervous system response to stimuli. If approaching or over the age of 40, and your lack of erections also comes with a decreased desire for sex, you may be experiencing low testosterone levels. You can try herbal remedies such as Maca Root or herbal supplements  to alleviate symptoms, or you may consult a physician if you feel the problem is serious.
