Happy New Year! It’s time. It’s time to quit smoking. It’s time to lose that extra weight. It’s time for that career change. It’s time to get more active. It’s time to read more. It’s time to indulge less. It’s time to choose the stairs over the elevator. It’s time for you to plan that vacation you’ve been putting off. It’s time to make that doctor’s appointment. It’s time to finish that paperwork. It’s time to choose healthy, sustainable, achievable goals. I love resolutions! People make fun of those who join the gym at New Year’s, but even if 10% of them stick with it and better their lives, that’s huge! There’s no better time than January 1st to commit to some major, life-altering changes. A new year is so cleansing. Like a real-life reset button. When I decided to change my life back in 2016, it was on August 1st. The beginning of a new month. A new me. I started eating super clean, just fruits and veggies and nuts and lean meats and yogurt. No chips, no cookies, no crackers, no cereal, no bread, no pasta... No junk. When the excess weight started to melt away, I enhanced my weight loss with intermittent fasting. I eat from 12p-7pm every day (with few exceptions)! That’s my diet, in a nutshell. It’s not rocket science. It’s just hard work. I want to hear your New Year’s resolution in the comments below.??BE BOLD. Share your goals with me. Share them with the world. It’s how I stay on top of mine! Publicly declaring your plan gives you a strong sense of responsibility. It holds you accountable. Allow this before-and-after photo to serve as inspiration as you gear up to change your life tomorrow. Bookmark it. Share it. This is what healthy vs. unhealthy truly looks like. Good luck ? and Godspeed. You got this! ?????? #beforeandafter #weightloss #intermittentfasting #wholefoods #eatclean #whole30 #paleo #keto #fitness #health #physician #medicine #diet #lifestyle #newyear #newyou #polo #ralphlauren #goodluck #godspeed #update #doctor #progress #advice #newyearsresolution

When Doctor Kevin Gendreau witnessed his sister lose her life to cancer, he was forced out of a deep slumber to face the harsh realities of life. He weighed a massive 300 pounds and stood at 5 feet 9 inches. In fact, that's where that journey started, and in just 18 months, he lost a staggering 125 pounds. The transformation was massive and he no longer needed medication for his blood pressure and high cholesterol, and he brought his diabetes back in control

Janielle Wright

Post pregnancy weight became a problem for Janielle Wright after the birth of her baby girl. In fact, she struggled hard to lose the baby weight and weighed 337 pounds at the height of 5 feet 8 inches. However, with the help of intermittent fasting, Janielle fasted for 16 hours and ate for eight hours. She also followed this with 30-minutes of a high-intensity workout, enabling her to lose 105 pounds.

Hannah Lester

Hannah Lester went through a phase of having fast food for every meal leading her to weigh 285 pounds. To start her journey, she joined a weight-loss challenge created by a colleague and cut down on soda and fast food and drank more water. It worked. By March she lost 35 pounds. She lost 100 pounds in the duration of three and had been maintaining the same weight ever since.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Throwback Thursday! Back in the classroom this week, and inching my way to getting back to “normal”. Who am I kidding, there’s no such thing as normal these days! ? From the moment I decided to take care of me to be better be able to take care of the others in my life, it has been one crazy adventure after another! Rode roller coasters, flew in one plane seat, can drive a car, moved out, met so many awesome people, found love, skin removal, and in June the wedding! I didn’t see all of these adventures happening back on day 1, but with consistency and support this journey sure has been one heck of a ride! I can’t wait to see what the next adventure is! Weighing at a massive 514-pound, Brittany May had to be weighed on a farm scale. She acknowledged her problem and decided it was enough. Firstly, she started a pre-packaged meal program named Optavia and shed 336 pounds in just two years. Later, she has agreed to drop her stubbornness and strived to maintain a healthier relationship with food.

Kelly and Mike Magnarini

Kelly Magnarini gained weight after her struggle with pregnancy and trying IVF and her husband Mike gained weight too. They both weigh 219 pounds and  259 pounds respectively. They shifted their focus on healthier eating habits and working out, and soon Kelly lost 57 pounds, and Mike lost 58.

Even though several stories come up in your feed, is it hardly ever that we spare them a fleeting thought. But these are all stories of real people with real struggles. For a person weighing several hundreds of pounds to finally be healthier and lose the weight that they struggled with for a long time is truly rewarding. And to witness such a before and after journey is inspiring for many aspiring souls out there.
