For many men, it’s probably pretty safe to assume that many of us could stand to lose a few more pounds than we did just last year. If you’re guilty of drinking too much beer and consuming far too many calories and not hitting the gym, it’s time to get off your butt and start getting yourself into the shape you’ve always dreamed of. In order to lose weight, improve health, improve fitness, and just generally improve your physique not only will you need to do more exercise, but you will also need to eat healthier foods as well. Whether you enjoy cooking or not, unfortunately, it is pretty much essential if you’re serious about losing weight and getting in shape. People think that healthy eating has to be boring when in actual fact it doesn’t at all. By simply making a few changes to your grocery lists and your weight loss cooking techniques and ingredients, you can save countless calories and unhealthy fats, while still enjoying great tasting healthy food that promotes weight loss cooking.
Trim away any visible fat
Bacon. People associate bacon with unhealthy breakfasts and burgers when in reality, bacon can be incredibly healthy. The rashers are thin for starters, and also, all of the fat contained within bacon is visible, and can easily be trimmed away. Once cooked, grilled for example, you’re left with a tasty piece of very lean meat. The same principle applies for other cuts of meat as well. If you can see any visible fat, simply trim it away and you’ll save yourself numerous calories.
Grill rather than fry
If you do have certain foods for weight loss cooking, why not try grilling them rather than frying them. Grilling them not only saves on calories as you don’t need to add any oil to the pan, but it also allows the fat contained within the foods to drain away, especially if you happen to be using a certain well-known brand of grill. When you fry items, they sit in the pan with the oil you used, plus their own juices and fats, which they then reabsorb.
Use a low calorie cooking spray
Low calorie cooking sprays are all the rage lately, and for good reason too. They lubricate pans and utensils, preventing food from sticking, without the need to use unhealthy oils high in calories and fat. You can now purchase various types of low calorie cooking sprays, including virgin, and extra virgin olive oil sprays. The spray coats the pan more effectively, and you use far less.
Bulk out meals with veggies
Not only do vegetables taste great, they’re also very, very good for us as well. They’re low in fat and are packed full of nutrients that the body thrives upon. The healthier we are, the more effective our bodies are, including our metabolisms. If you’re making stews, curries, or stir-fries for example, throw in a handful or two of your favourite vegetables during the cooking process. Make sure you have a serving of fruits or vegetables with each one of your meals, but be wary that they too contain calories so make sure you account for those.
