Sexual Health Problems In Men

The Truth about Men’s Sexual Health Problems

Sexual health problems can seriously hinder the wellbeing of any man, yet most find it uncomfortable to talk to their doctor about issues of this nature. Other men think that the problems in their sexual health such as decreased sexual desire, male infertility, and prostate issues are normal part of the aging process and don’t even look to seek treatment. Here is a look at three common sexual health problems among males that you may want to watch out for.

The truth about men’s sexual health problems

Lack of Sexual Desire

According to a survey conducted by independent research, 15% of men aged 30 to 59 years old have experienced lack of sexual interest at some point in their lives. Loss of sexual interest can be attributed to several factors including low testosterone, alcohol use, and stress. Research has shown that excessive alcohol consumption can dampen libido by interfering with testosterone levels.

Male Infertility

Sexual health problems, Infertility can be caused by various physical, psychological, and environmental factors. Smoking tends to decrease the sperm cell motility and sperm count. Very intense workouts increase the levels of adrenal steroid hormones in a man’s body, causing testosterone deficiency that may result to infertility. Exposure to environmental pollution and toxins such as dioxins, lacquers used in dental treatments, and organochlorine pesticides can serve as hormonal disrupters as well. Men with infertility problems can seek the help of practitioners that specialize in fertility for its diagnosis and treatment. If that is not an option, changes in lifestyle can also promote fertility like reducing stress levels, maintaining an ideal weight, and not smoking or using recreational or illegal drugs.

Prostate Cancer: sexual health problems

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death among men next to lung cancer. Research reveals that one in every 10,000 men who are under 40 years old develop prostate cancer, while one in every eight men from 60 to 80 years old has prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is a slow-growing form of cancer. It has an average of 98% 5-year survival rate and 84% 10-year survival rate. Most men die with prostate cancer and not because of it. Men whose family has a history of cancer as well as those with higher testosterone levels are at high risk of developing prostate cancer. Since there is no specific way to prevent prostate cancer, men are advised to be more watchful regarding unusual changes in their body and never hesitate to consult their doctors when they sense something wrong in it. Sexual health problems

Having a good sexual health has a lot of benefits especially to the male sex which include lower stress level, better self-esteem, better heart health, and deeper intimacy with one’s partner. So if you think you are expieriencing any of these common sexual health problems talk to your doctor to see how you can get back in action.
